Information About Our Procedures:
Veneers
Porcelain veneers are an alternative to the traditional
methods of crowning and bonding. They are ultra-thin pieces of ceramic glass made to precisely fit over your tooth. They are
stronger and last longer than teeth bonded with tooth-colored materials. A more precise color is available and it may improve
the strength of the tooth. Spacing problems can also be reduced.
Crown & Bridges
A crown is a restoration that covers or "caps"
a tooth so as to restore it to its normal color, size, shape or strength.
A bridge is a fixed appliance that replaces
one or more teeth. It is firmly attached to the teeth and cannot be removed by the patient.
Implants
Implants are another option for replacing missing.
An implant mimics a real tooth in the sense that there is a “root” that holds the tooth in the jawbone.
After a healing period, a crown is placed that connects to the implant.
Composite (Non-Mercury) Fillings
Composites are non-mercury, tooth colored fillings that
are placed in front and back teeth. They are bonded and light-cured and are esthetically excellent. This type
of restoration has become common and widely used.
Preventative Care, Sealants, Periodontal Treatment
Preventative Care - Daily home care (brushing
and flossing) for plaque removal as well as regular six-month visits with your dental hygienist are vital to maintaining tooth
and gum health.
Sealants – Enamel sealants
(or pit and fissure sealants) is a preventative procedure to prevent tooth decay. Teeth may have grooves and pits on
the chewing surfaces not able to be cleaned with a toothbrush. The sealants keep the bacterial plaque and food out of
these areas to prevent decay. Although children receive significant benefits from sealants, adults can also be a risk
for pit and fissure decay and can be considered for this treatment. Ask us about sealants at your next visit!
Periodontal or “Gum” Treatment – Periodontal
or “gum” disease involves inflamed tissue surrounding the teeth. Long term inflammation can result in bone
and attachment loss, tooth mobility, possible tooth loss and has effects on your total health. The first step in treatment
is deep scaling, a non-surgical procedure which removes tartar and calculus from the tooth root surfaces allowing surrounding
tissue to heal. Sometimes local anesthesia is used and multiple visits may be necessary following initial therapy.
Re-care visits with your Hygienist are essential in 3, 4 or 6 month intervals.
Root Canal Therapy
Root Canal Therapy treats disorders of the nerve (pulp)
of the tooth. The purpose of this procedure is to retain teeth that otherwise would have to be extracted. The
treatment can be completed in one office visit, but may sometimes require additional visits. A crown is necessary after
root therapy to prevent breakage of the treated tooth.
Invisalign
Invisalign is the invisible way to straighten teeth using
a series of custom made, nearly undetectable aligners.
Because
there are no metal wires or brackets, Invisalign is comfortable. Because the trays are removable, eating, brushing,
and flossing is not a problem.
So whether your teeth are
crowded, too far apart or have shifted since wearing braces, you’ll have a new reason to smile.
